BAFFIN TECHNOLOGY HELPS CHRISTIAN MOVE INDEPENDENTLY
Eight year old Christian from Luton has been using a Baffin Automatic™ multi-functional standing frame from Baffin Technology Systems which features the revolutionary Second Spine® Technology for nearly a year and the results have been significant.
Christian has Type 2 SMA which means he is unable to stand or walk and can not sit properly either as he has curvature of the spine. However, Christain is a very happy young man.
Christian and his mother Carmen first came across Baffin Technology when they were researching for a new standing frame as Christian‘s previous model was not proving to be very sucessful as Carmen explains: “Due to his condition, Christian requires a specialist standing frame and seating system which can take up quite a lot of space when you live in a home such as ours. Christian loves the Baffin Automatic™. In addition to Type 2 SMA Christian also has a serious hip condition which can cause a lot of discomfrt but thanks to the Baffin Automatic™, Christian can adjust his position himself to ensure not only is his posture in the best position but he is also as comfortable as possible. “I think the Baffin Automatic™ is great, I really like as it is very comfortable and the best thing is that I can change position myself which is cool“ explained Christian.
Another great benefit of the Baffin Automatic™ from Carmen’s perspective is that she no longer has to transfer Christian between a standing frame and a chair, a process that not only took time but could be quite uncomfortable for Christian and put on a strain on Carmen physically.
